In My Name… heal!

Prayer: Father, thank You for the instruction and wisdom of Your Word. If I will listen and obey Your Word, I will avoid much heartache and calamity. Give me eyes to see, ears to hear, and a heart to be obedient. Amen.

Reading: Psalm 41 key: vs. 4
Adonai will strengthen him on his sickbed.
May You restore him completely from his bed.

Attention: There is not a day that goes by that I do not hear of someone who is on a sick bed battling some disease or illness. I listened to an interview of a doctor who does extensive research and he claimed that we are going to see an explosion of diseases related to the current pandemic and the antidotes being mandated.

I don’t say this to cause more fear than we already have propagated by the media, world leaders and world health organizations. I am telling you so that we can be prepared. This is an extraordinary opportunity for us to be Ekklesia. Our example in Jesus was this. As he sent out His disciples, He task them with several things, among them to “heal the sick (Matt. 10:7-8; Mk. 6:12-13; Lk. 9:1-6).”

If Jesus tasked His disciple with healing, is it possible that we are to heal the sick too? You may question who is doing the healing. The healing comes from the Holy Spirit dwelling within us. We are privileged to be the conduit of His healing work. Even James (Jacob 5:13-16) tells us to “call on the elders of Messiah’s community, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord.”

If we embrace being Jesus’ community (Ekklesia) can we do any less? If we want to distance ourselves from looking like or being the church (because we are not), this is one example. They would require the people to come to them, we go!

Action: I will follow Jesus’ example and make myself available to pray over and anoint the sick to heal them.

Yield: I am yielded when I go and do as Jesus authorized me.

Engage: I am engaged when I do!

Relationship: I am in full relationship with Jesus when I do as He authorized me to do.

Prayer: Father, I have gotten lazy about the things which You through Jesus, commissioned me to do. May I witness the power of the Holy Spirit in my life and the lives of fellow Ekklesian’s as we are obedient to Your commission to go and “proclaim(ed) that all should repent, and they were driving out many demons and anointing with oil many who were sick and healing them.” Amen.

Memory Verse: Matthew 10:7-8
As you go, proclaim, ‘The kingdom of heaven has come near!’ Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those with tzara’at, drive out demons. Freely you received, freely give.
