It’s Not Within Me

Prayer: Father, I acknowledge that interpretations of dreams are not within me. You are the source of wisdom and knowledge, the content of dreams. From Your Spirit flows the insight and interpretation of dreams. Amen.

Reading: Genesis 41 key vs. 15-16
15 Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, “I dreamed a dream and there’s no one to interpret it. I heard about you—it’s said that you can listen to a dream to interpret it.”
16 Then Joseph answered Pharaoh saying, “It’s not within me. God will answer with shalom for Pharaoh.”

Attention: There are professional athletes, music artists, and celebrities who attribute their success to Jesus. My favorite personality is Tim Tebow. As a football player, he wrote scriptures on his eye black under his eyes and verbally gave the glory to Jesus. If you are not familiar with his testimony, his parents served as missionaries in the Philippines. When Tim was conceived, complications ensued, and doctors encouraged his mother to terminate the pregnancy. God intervened and today, Tim and his wife are advocates against human trafficking.

In today’s scheduled reading, Joseph knows and acknowledges Adonai as the source of his seer capability. That he is not the source, but the One he knows, is the Source. He gives God the glory and does not try to take the credit on his own.

Are we tempted to cut or eliminate God out of the equation? If you are tempted to take the credit on your own, there are consequences. If you are not sure there are consequences, just review Daniel 4:25-34. Just like Pharoah, King Nebuchadnezzar consulted his “magicians, astrologers, Chaldeans and diviners… and they were unable to make known its (his dream) interpretation to me” (Daniel 4:4). Even Nebuchadnezzar recognized that Daniel’s gifting was not from him, but “in whom is the spirit of the holy gods” (vs. 5-6). The result of Daniel’s accuracy in interpretation is revealed in Daniel’s recording of the king’s response, “Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise, exalt and honor the King of heaven, because all His works are right and His ways just. He is able to humble those who walk in pride” (Daniel 4:34).

God is the great humbler. He humbles the most noble to the least. Do you acknowledge God as the source of life, success and achievement? Are you anointed with the gifting of interpreting dreams? Have you asked for this gifting? What a wonderful gifting is the gift of interpretation.

Action: I acknowledge God as the King of heaven and the giver and interpreter of dreams.

Yield: I submit to the supremacy of God and His anointing gifts.

Engage: I am engaged with Adonai when I give Him the glory.

Relationship: My relationship with Adonai is full circle when He anoints, and I glorify Him.

Prayer: Father, I thank You for the anointing gifts which You give to those who acknowledge and glorify You. What a testimony of You, when a devoted follower acknowledges Your anointing and interprets a dream according to Your direction. May You be glorified! Amen.

Memory Verse: Daniel 2:19-23
19 During the night the mystery was revealed to Daniel in a vision. Then Daniel blessed the God of heaven 20 and answered, saying:
“Blessed be the Name of God forever and ever,
for wisdom and might are His.
21 He changes times and seasons.
He removes kings and installs kings.
He gives wisdom to the wise
    and knowledge to the discerning.
22 He reveals deep and hidden things.
He knows what lies in darkness
    and light dwells with Him.
23 To You, O God of my fathers,
    I give thanks and praise!
For You gave me wisdom and power.
You have made known to me what we asked of You.
You revealed to us the word of the king.”
