Keeping Vows

Prayer: Father, may I be faithful to the vows that I make to You. You take our vows made to You seriously. So, shall I. Amen.

Reading: Numbers 30 key: vs. 1-2
“On the first day of the seventh month you are to have a sacred assembly. You are to do no laborious work. It is for you a day for sounding the shofarYou are to prepare a burnt offering as a pleasing aroma to Adonai: one young bull from the herd, one ram, and seven male lambs a year old, without flaw,

Attention: Were you aware that this verse was in the Bible? If you are like me, we have made vows to Adonai at sometime in our lives. If you have been born again, you probably made a vow to live for Jesus the rest of your days.

There was a period in my life when I failed miserably and broke my vows to Yeshua and former wives. It was about ten years ago when I fully repented of my obstinate, rebellious ways and reconciled with God, Adonai. My repentance led to my approaching my parents, seeking forgiveness for my sin. Since then, the Holy Spirit has done a work of restoration and redirection in my heart and life.

There may be those reading this scripture and journal who have also been a prodigal in attitude and lifestyle. For years you have run from God or maintained a pharisaical attitude thinking, I am not as bad as most. Yet you know in your heart, your lifestyle is not honoring to God. I urge you to reevaluate your life in light of scripture.

The scripture which I found most convicting is found in 2 Timothy 3: 1-5. The more of this passage that I read, the more convicted I became about my past lifestyle. I was guilty of almost every detail which the apostle Paul wrote to a young Timothy. Please take a few moments today to ponder this scripture passage. If repentance is needed, please have the courage to be honest with yourself (yes, we can be self-deceptive with ourselves) and repent. Repentance is very freeing. It will take a load of guilt off your heart and shoulders.

Action: I choose to keep my vows I have made with God and before God.

Yield: I give my life over and anew to Adonai.

Engage: I choose to engage in the act of repentance with the aid of the Holy Spirit.

Relationship: I choose to stay in perfect peace with Adonai, by the Holy Spirit.

Prayer: Father, like the old hymn says, “O, what peace we often forfeit,” all because we do not come to You, repent and ask Your forgiveness. I seek Your forgiveness today for my prodigal attitude. Amen.

Memory Verse: 2 Timothy 2: 19
19 Nevertheless, the firm foundation of God stands, having this seal: “The Lord knows those who are His,” and, “Let everyone who names the name of the Lord keep away from unrighteousness.”
