Prayer: Father, there is much I do not know and much I must learn. Teach me Your secrets. Amen.
Reading: Isaiah 27 key: vs. 1 “In that day Adonai will punish Leviathan the fleeing serpent with His fierce, great, strong sword, Leviathan the twisted serpent! He will slay the dragon in the sea.” TLV
Attention: I remember viewing a movie in my adolescence titled, Jason and the Argonauts. The movie featured a mythical figure (Jason) battling a sea monster which looked much like the Leviathan depicted in today’s scripture. If you are not aware, Leviathan as a sea creature is mentioned in Psalms 74 & 104, and Job 3 & 40.
Is Leviathan real? If there is room for dinosaurs in the history of the world and of Nephilim (Genesis 6), then is their room for creatures which are sea monsters? In the past, creatures like Leviathan were considered folklore or myth. I remember reading about a sea monster called Loch Ness, which had been sighted in Scotland.
After now discovering Leviathan in scripture, I tend to believe that God has created some monstrous creatures in the past.
In the book of Revelation, John mentions a “beast rising out of the sea (13:1), with “seven heads.” I have always tended to believe that what John saw was symbolic rather than real. Whether actual or symbolic, God has an enemy which is real. This same enemy is our enemy too.
The real question is whether we will heed the warning of the prophets of old and the prophecy of Revelation.
Action: I choose to believe and heed the warning of God’s book of Revelation.
Yield: I choose to yield to the veracity of God’s Word.
Engage: I choose to engage with the Holy Spirit in embracing the warnings of Revelation.
Relationship: I choose to live in holy, obedient, intimate relationship with Adonai.
Prayer: Father, I choose to believe Your veracity. Your truth is everlasting. You cannot deny Yourself. Amen.
Memory Verse: Revelation 1:3 “How fortunate is the one who reads the words of this prophecy, and those who hear and keep what has been written in it—for the time is near.” TLV
