Messengers

Prayer: Father, open my eyes to see new aspects of Your character and Your kingdom. You are forever the same, yesterday, today, and tomorrow. Amen.

Reading: Ezekiel 30 key: vs. “They will know that I am Adonai, when I have set a fire in Egypt and all her supporters are destroyed. “On that day, messengers will go out from before Me in ships to frighten Ethiopians out of complacency. Anguish will come on them as on the day of Egypt—for, behold, it is coming!” Thus says Adonai Elohim: “I will put away the pomp of Egypt by the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon.” TLV

Attention: Have you ever watched a movie where a thug is terrorizing someone, and they get up the nerve to fight back? Usually, the thug is so shocked by the response that they back down or run off. They have been knocked down a notch and the cockiness are gone.

God (Adonai) is telling Ezekiel that Egypt’s day is coming at the hand of Nebuchadnezzar, “I will put away the pomp of Egypt.”

“On that day” when God punches Egypt, “messengers” will go out before Adonai to the “ships” to frighten the “Ethiopians out of complacency.” Who are God’s messengers? Angels are God’s messengers.

Here is what the Holman Illustrated Dictionary says about Angel messengers; “The Hebrew word in the OT is mal’ak, and the NT Greek word is angelos. They both mean “messenger” and occasionally refer to human messengers. Angels not only carry messages to people (Gen. 18:9-16; Judg. 13:2-24; Luke 1:13,30; 2:8-15), they also carry out God’s will as He directs them) Ps. 148:2-5; Col. 1:16).” The Bible offers little description of angelic messengers because the focus is on the message and not the messenger (pg.66).”

Has God ever sent you a message via a messenger? I have experienced the serendipity of God’s messengers speaking to me via scripture and knocking at my door. The Holy Spirit through the writer of Hebrews warns us, “Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers—for in doing so, some have entertained angels without knowing it.”

I encourage you to watch for the messengers of God in your life.

Action: I choose to embrace the ministry of angels as messengers of God.

Yield: I choose to submit to the authority and power of the Holy Spirit.

Engage: I choose to engage in the spiritual battle which angels war with every day.

Relationship: I choose to live in holy, intimate, obedient relationship with Adonai.

Prayer: Father, may I ever be aware of Your heavenly messengers work in my life, in the heavenly realm, and provision of protection. Your angel army is vast and powerful. Thank You for the added source of messaging which angels provide. Amen.

Memory Verse: Hebrews 13: 2 “Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers—for in doing so, some have entertained angels without knowing it.” TLV
