Prayer: Father, I do not have to go to a mountain or climb a mountain to meet with You. You are with me and available to me every minute and second of the day. Thank You for the personal nature of Your character. Amen.
Reading: Exodus 19 key: vs. 4-6
4 ‘You have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and how I carried you on eagle’s wings and brought you to Myself. 5 Now then, if you listen closely to My voice, and keep My covenant, then you will be My own treasure from among all people, for all the earth is Mine. 6 So as for you, you will be to Me a kingdom of kohanim and a holy nation.’ These are the words which you are to speak to Bnei-Yisrael.”
Attention: Have you ever thought that not only does Adonai want your heart, and your love, He wants you to listen to Him too? In verse five, there is a convenient, conditional “if” clause; “if you listen closely to My voice, and keep My covenant, then you will be My own treasure from among all people, for all the earth is Mine. So as for you, you will be to Me be a kingdom of kohanim (priests) and a holy nation.”
Notice, “if” you listen and keep My covenant, “then” you will be My own treasure, among all nations and people. It is like Adonai is proposing to the Hebrew nation. His covenant is extended from Himself to an entire nation. I will be Your God, and you will be My covenant people. But you must listen and obey. Is Adonai saying the same thing to us today?
Love is demonstrated in obedience. We can say we love Adonai, but if actions, our obedience, does not support our words, our words are empty.
Adonai also communicated to Moses, that he was to outline the “boundaries” (vs. 12) given by Adonai. These boundaries were related to Mt. Sinai, where Adonai met with Moses. In the next chapter, Adonai gives Moses boundaries which have become known to us as the Ten Commandments. We all need to have good personal boundaries. Maybe it is a good thought for us to return as a people and nation to the Ten Commandments as established and embraced boundaries.
Action: I will elevate my personal boundaries to include God’s standards found in Exodus 20.
Yield: I give my life to Adonai in word and deed.
Engage: I will engage with the Holy Spirit on this daily Choose Life journey together.
Relationship: I worship Adonai in word and deed.
Prayer: Father, when I embrace Your personal boundaries for my life and obey Your Word, I am loving You. Amen.
Memory Verse: Romans 5:8
8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Messiah died for us.
