My Lover, My Friend

Prayer: Father, help me to draw from the collective wisdom of scripture. Teach me and inspire me to apply Your principles for romantic love. Amen.

Reading: Song of Songs 5 key: vs. 26 “His mouth is sweetness. Yes, he is totally desirable. This is my lover! Yes, this is my friend, O daughters of Jerusalem.” TLV

Attention: Have you ever heard a married couple say, “I married my best friend!” How wonderful when it works out that way. Have you ever described your spouse as, “My best friend.”

In today’s scripture, the wife (female) is describing the features of her man and comparing each feature to items of value, precious, and attract her to him. She describes him as being unique, “standing out among ten thousand.”

My wife is unique to tens of thousands. She has her own style and grace among women at any age. She has her own fashion too.

Hopefully, you have expressed to your wife (I am writing my entries in Song of Songs, as if I had an all-male audience), her uniqueness among all women. She could be standing in a sea of women, and she would stand out to you. She is all you see.

May your wife flourish in the superlatives you cast her way because of our study in Song of Songs.

Action: I choose to shower my wife with superlatives as my lover and my friend.

Yield: I choose to yield to the principles of romantic love.

Engage: I choose to engage in the principles of romantic love and attraction.

Relationship: I choose to live in holy, intimate relationship and friendship with my wife.

Prayer: Father, life is so much sweeter and better when I utilized the principles of romantic love which You provide liberally. Amen.

Memory Verse: Song of Songs 5:16 “His mouth is sweetness. Yes, he is totally desirable. This is my lover! Yes, this is my friend, O daughters of Jerusalem.”
