My soul longs for You!

Prayer: Father, I love David’s zeal and passion for You. How descriptively he captures his desire for You. May I communicate my love for You and emulate to the nations, my desire for You. Amen.

Reading: Psalm 143 key: vs. 6
I spread forth my hands to You.
My soul longs for You as a parched land. Selah

Attention: Many of us at some time in our lives have tried our hand at writing poetry or prose to a spouse of loved one. I recall a time when I was a teenager of meeting a young lady who was staying with some friends of my family and writing poetry to her of my interest. It seems comical now, but it was sincere.

Have you tried your hand at expressing your love and desire for Adonai? David says, “My soul longs for You as a parched land.” Have you ever watered a garden or a plant, and the soil is completely dry? Parched land is void of moisture and plants will die without moisture, water. But they will thrive with the precious gift of water.

There is a story in the book of John chapter 4, which shares with us an encounter and communication exchange between Yeshua and a Samaritan woman over water. She is drawing water from a well and Yeshua asks her for a drink. She finds His request odd since Jewish people did not interact with Samaritans. What ensues is a statement by Yeshua which says, “Everyone who drinks from this (well) water will get thirsty again. But whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall never be thirsty. The water that I give him will become a fountain of water within him, springing up to eternal life!”

Yeshua uses this moment to prophetically speak into her life. She is so awed by what He shared with her, that she runs to tell others what Yeshua told her, “Everything I ever did!”

What did He tell her which He is telling us? “But an hour is coming—it is here now—when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people as His worshipers. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”

He told her prior to this, that “an hour is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem.” How heretical, right? Is He telling us through John and the Samaritan woman the same message? True worship is not found in a location, or a building, or an institution, or on a mountain.

Do you know Yeshua? Have you experienced the Living Water which only He can give? Is your soul parched today? He invites you and me to come and drink Living water.

Memory Verse: Psalm 42:2-3
As the deer pants for streams of water,
so my soul pants for You, O God.
My soul thirsts for God, for the living God.
When will I come and appear before God?
