Prayer: Father, what a pivot when my knowledge becomes faith. I too know that You can do all things. I too know that my Redeemer lives. I too know that You are the Christ, the Son of the living God. Amen.
Reading: Job 42 key: vs. 5
5 I had heard of You by the hearing of the ear;
but now my eye has seen You.
Attention: In the life of a follower of Yeshua, if we study the scriptures long enough and thorough enough, we are faced with the questions Yeshua asked of His disciples. In addition to understanding my need of a Savior, there comes a time when we are faced with the questions like the one posed to Peter in Matthew 16:15 “But who do you say that I am?” Or the one posed by Yeshua when He asked, “Do you believe this?” regarding His declaring, “I am the resurrection and the life! Whoever believes in Me, even if he dies, shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die (John 11:25).” Or again when He asked, “Why do you call Me Master, Master and do not do what I say?” (Luke 7:46).
If we are His disciples, His followers, then we too are faced with the questions which He asked His disciples. Are you aware that of each of His twelve disciples He asked them to “Follow Me (Matthew 4:19, 22)?” The requirement of followship is no different today! We are not his disciples if we do not follow Him.
Peter was the one who was asked directly, “Who do you say I am?” You can see Peter stand tall and declare, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.” He knew the correct answer, but this was not yet his resolve. Once the resurrection took place and the Holy Spirit was given, Peter had now transitioned to faith. A faith and resolve which now spoke with conviction and declared, “Therefore let the whole house of Israel know for certain that God has made Him—this Yeshua whom you crucified—both Lord and Messiah!” We are told that the crowd which Peter preached too was “cut to the heart” and asked, “What shall we do?” Peter responded, “Repent, and let each of you be immersed in the name of Messiah Yeshua for the removal of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Ruach ha-Kodesh. For the promise is for you and your children, and for all who are far away—as many as Adonai our God calls to Himself.” Three thousand souls were added that day! (Acts 2:1-41).
Job had met and talked with God face to face and survived. He had a newfound resolve. He says to Adonai, “I had heard of You by the hearing of the ear; but now my eye has seen You (vs.5).” His faith had now become sight.
We are asked upon the witness of others, to believe that our sight may one day become real. This is faith. To believe what God declares to us through the written word and testimony of others. “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of realities not seen (Hebrews 11:1).”
Action: Increase my faith, Lord. You are the Christ, the Son of the Living God!
Yield: Acknowledgement is faith building.
Engage: Acknowledgement is engaging.
Relationship: I am one with Christ!
Prayer: Father, when we are faced with the questions You asked of all Your disciples, may we respond with total resolve, You are the Christ, the Son of the living God! May we respond, there is none other than You. You are the Way, the Truth, the Life! Amen.
