Observations on The Satan

Prayer: Father, help me to see what You want me to see in Scripture and the world around me. There are all kinds of activity in the world, but who is behind it and who gets the glory? How often are we being deceived and led to believe a lie and not the truth? Reveal and expose the works of darkness. Amen.

Reading: Job 2 key: vs. 1-2
Again the day came when the sons of God came to present themselves before Adonai, and the satan also arrived among them to present himself before AdonaiAdonai said to him, “Where are you coming from?”

The satan answered Adonai, “From roaming the earth and from walking on it.”

Attention: Have you ever noticed that while the cast of players are mentioned in the first few chapters of Job, that some characters kind of fade away and unless we make a conscious effort to remember they have presence and influence, we tend to dismiss or disregard.

We see The Satan’s role in the Genesis account of Creation and the Fall. We see The Satan in the first couple of chapters of Job. We see The Satan’s reappearance in Revelation 20 where the last battle is addressed, and he is bound and thrown into the bottomless pit “so that he would not deceive the nations any longer.” His method of operation has been through the ages to “steal, slaughter, and destroy” (John 10:10).

There is a battle raging over mankind every day. If we do not know what we are looking for and watching play out in the world, we will miss it. Many organizations which have satanic roots, do wonderful humanitarian works hiding what is at the foundation. It is difficult for us to perceive what we see because it is good on the surface. Remember, his game is to deceive the nations while stealing, killing, and destroying mankind. He is not innocent, and he is not harmless. His game is to keep us divided, confused, and deceived.

When we have mass killings, suicides, destruction, riots, and the instigators manifest a demonic like appearance, think about who is behind activity like that. The Satan has not left the earth or went into hiding. Adam and Eve saw him in the garden but since then, he is spirit and we see not him, but the evidence of his existence and works.

A few observations about The Satan. Notice that he does not have unbridled freedom. In both Job 1 & 2, The Satan appears before Adonai to whom he is subjected. He is answerable to God and God is the preeminent authority. Everyone including The Satan is answerable to God and God is answerable to no one.

Notice that The Satan’s answer to God’s question, “Where have you come from?” is answered, “From roaming the earth and from walking on it.” He still roams the earth. The narrative of the world is he does not exist, is safe, and harmless. What does the Bible tell us about our enemy? This is Peter’s warning, “Stay alert! Watch out! Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, searching for someone to devour” (1 Peter 5:8).

Are you aware? Are you alert? Are you watching for evidence of his presence and existence? James (Jacob) gives us wonderful advice, “Therefore, submit to God. But resist the devil and he will flee from you” (James 4:7). I encourage you to submit to God and resist the devil. Also, put on the armor of God found in Ephesians 6: 10-18 so that “you are able to stand against the schemes of the devil.”

Action: I will be aware of my enemy the devil and will put on my armor and resist his schemes.

Yield: I intentionally submit to God and intentionally resist the devil.

Engage: I am engaged with God when I submit to Him and resist the devil.

Relationship: Relationship is obedience.

Prayer: Father, I thank You for Your instruction. May I listen, observe, and obey. In Yeshua’s name. Amen.

Memory Verse: 2 Corinthians 11:13-15
13 For such men are false emissaries, deceitful workers masquerading as Messiah’s emissaries. 14 And no wonder, for even satan masquerades as an angel of light. 15 It is no great thing therefore if his servants also masquerade as servants of righteousness. Their end will be according to their deeds.
