Plan B

Prayer: Father, help me today to accept Your plan A and not to create of my own, a plan B. It never works when I deviate from Your plan. Amen.

Reading: Genesis 16 key: vs. 2 ‘So Sarai said to Abram, “Look now, Adonai has prevented me from having children. Go, please, to my slave-girl. Perhaps I’ll get a son by her.” Abram listened to Saria’s voice.’

Attention: It is easy to understand Sarai’s rationale. She and Abram are getting older, not younger. She could have also wondered if it was Abram who couldn’t perform the task, but all doubt was erased when she told Abram to go in to Hagar her slave-girl. She did blame Adonai for her dilemma, “He has prevented me from having children.”

Have you ever tried a plan B approach after knowing God’s plan A? I have. How did plan B work for you? I’m already guessing, the same as me, failure.

There are times like that account of Abram and Sarai and Adam and Eve, that we all need men to be men. Both accounts involve critical decisions which have affected all of mankind for the duration of history. Adam and Eve’s choice to disobey, brought sin into mankind’s DNA. Abram and Sarai’s decision is still playing out as a family feud.

If you haven’t read Genesis 16-18, then you do not understand what is at stake in Jerusalem and Israel. For, when Ishmael was born, the conflict which results in the Armageddon conflict, was put into motion. For both Ishmael and Isaac have a common father, Abram. What they do not have is a mutual God, Adonai. Is it the first born who has the rights to Jerusalem? Or is it the son of Promise who has the rights? If you do not believe in Adonai, then your father Ishmael has the rights. If you believe in Adonai, then Isaac’s lineage has the rights. While this is playing out in the physical realm, it is a spiritual battle.

People will die over the rights they believe they are owed in land. But it is really about who is God? Is it Allah or is it Adonai?

The decisions and choices we make today are eternal too. They determine your destiny. Whom will you choose to follow? God has declared, “I am Adonai– there is no other (Isaiah 45:5a).” You decide?

Action: I declare today my allegiance to Adonai, the only God.

Yield: I yield when I declare there is no other God but, Adonai.

Engage: I am engaged when I declare my heart for Adonai.

Relationship: I am in relationship when I declare my heart, mind, and soul for Adonai.

Prayer: Father, there is no other God but You. Amen.

Memory Verse: Isaiah 45: 5-6
I am Adonai—there is no other.
Besides Me there is no God.
I will strengthen you,
though you have not known Me,
so they may know,
from the rising to the setting of the sun,
that there is no one besides Me.
I am Adonai—there is no other.
