Prayer: Father, I desire to be pleasing in Your eyes. I desire to be a blessing to the nation You have blessed. Help me to see the message You have for me today. Amen.
Reading: Numbers 24 key: vs. 1
When Balaam realized that it was pleasing in the eyes of Adonai to bless Israel, he did not resort to sorceries as at the other times, but turned his face toward the wilderness.
Attention: Have you ever noticed that just because someone has an encounter with the living God, they do not become followers or worshippers of Adonai? I have friends who will testify of an encounter with God, but then walk away and curse His name or never worship Him.
I have experienced having someone call me in desperation when they have been diagnosed with cancer and facing surgery and possible radiation treatments. Their surgery was successful, worry over, return to their former ways.
Balaam had a couple of encounters with Adonai, the living God. Yet he refuses to turn from his “sorceries.” He is obedient to speak to King Balak what Adonai instructs him, yet we will see tomorrow that he continued “to resort to sorceries (and seductions) as at other times.”
To his credit, he did make an important observation (a tool in Inductive Bible Study). Notice that he realized “that it was pleasing in the eyes of Adonai to bless Israel.” This observation is still true today. Our nation has been blessed in the past because it has sided with Israel and blessed Israel. There is a growing element among our nation (even Christians) who are opposed to supporting or blessing Israel. It is amazing to me that we can read the same scriptures and be oppositional to the truth of blessing Israel.
I encourage you to search and apply this scriptural truth declared by Adonai. This passage is not the first which declares Adonai’s blessing on those who bless Israel (Genesis 12:3).
Action: I choose to bless Israel and bless others.
Yield: I choose to give blessings.
Engage: I choose to engage with the Holy Spirit in giving blessings to Israel and others.
Relationship: Adonai prefers to give blessing rather than a curse.
Prayer: Father, I choose to be like You and Yeshua. You want me to bless Israel and others. I want to be pleasing in Your eyes. Amen.
Memory Verse: Numbers 24:9b
He who blesses you will be blessed,
and he who curses you will be cursed.
