Pouring Out

Prayer: Father, this is the day You have given me. May I rejoice and be glad in it. Today launches a new book study. May You show your servant new aspects of Your character and ways. Amen.

Reading: 1 Samuel 1 key: vs. 14-16 “Then Eli said to her, “How long will you be drunk? Get rid of your wine!” But in response Hannah said, “No, my lord, I am a woman with an oppressed spirit! I haven’t been drinking wine or beer. Instead I’ve been pouring out my soul before Adonai. Don’t consider your handmaid a wicked woman. For out of my great anguish and grief I’ve been praying until now.” TLV

Attention: I have known over the years of married couples who desperately wanted to have a child. Of those who ended up adopting a child, miraculously they then conceived and had a biological child. Was it God opening the womb? I cannot say for certain, but of the couples I knew, God was a frequent companion in prayer conversation.

Just like Hannah, these couples diligently sought the Lord.

I have found that there is nothing like the diligent prayerful seeking of God in matters of the heart. I have a matter which I have prayed for, for years, yet without answer to this point. I have even had prayer partners who are praying for the same concern.

To you I would say just as Eli said to Hannah, “May God (of Israel, Adonai) grant your petition that you asked of Him.” God cares about your concerns and is listening. Pour your heart out to God as Hannah did. He wants us to ask Him as a good heavenly Father.

Action: I choose today to pour my heart out to God about the things which concern me.

Yield: I choose to yield my concerns to the God who cares about me.

Engage: I choose to engage with the power of the Holy Spirit in praying to God.

Relationship: I choose today to establish a prayer conversation with God about my concerns.

Prayer: Father, I thank You for being a compassionate, loving Father who cares about the concerns of my heart. You know what I have prayed for, for years. I pray that You will grant me the desire of my heart. Amen.

Memory Verse: 1 Peter 5:7 “Cast all your worries on Him, for He cares for you.” TLV
