Prayer: Father, may my learning style fall in line with Your Word. Help me to receive insight today. Amen.
Reading: Isaiah 28 key: vs. 10 “For it must be ‘precept upon precept, precept upon precept, line upon line, line upon line, here a little, there a little.” TLV
Attention: The online dictionary definition for the word “precept” is, “a general rule intended to regulate behavior or thought.”
So, when Adonai repeats the words of vs. 10, again in vs. 13, He is establishing that to teach in this manner, “line upon line” and “precept upon precept,” the learner must be of an age which they can understand the concepts of scripture, to “regulate” or establish behavioral guidelines The Torah, given by God to Moses, were the guidelines which the Kohens taught all Hebrew people. In turn scriptural concepts are the guidelines which all people who embrace and follow Adonai must live by. Obedience is a foundational principle. All people are governed by the Torah because God is Supreme and His Law governs all other law. All other laws are subordinate to His.
The Choose Life method or system of journaling is founded on guiding those who engage in the process, through the Bible chapter by chapter, verse by verse. A system like this exposes every student to the entire Bible verse by verse. There is value in being exposed to the entire Word of God. If we believe that the entire Bible is the inspired Word of God, then we long to know the entire Bible.
I encourage you to embrace a systematic “verse by verse” approach to the study of God’s Word.
Action: I choose to stay on course in studying the Word of God verse by verse.
Yield: I choose to submit to a verse-by-verse approach to studying the Bible.
Engage: I choose to engage with the scriptures and the Holy Spirit, verse by verse.
Relationship: I choose to live in obedient intimate relationship with Adonai.
Prayer: Father, I love Your Holy Word, the Bible. I choose to know You, verse by verse, chapter by chapter. I will hide Your Word in my heart so that I might not sin against You. Amen.
Memory Verse: Isaiah 28:10 “For it must be ‘precept upon precept, precept upon precept, line upon line, line upon line, here a little, there a little.’ TLV
