Prayer: Father, that which You have ordained, will come to pass. You will accomplish it according to Your Word. Amen.
Reading: Isaiah 9 key: vs.5-6 “For to us a child is born, a son will be given to us, and the government will be upon His shoulder. His Name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God My Father of Eternity, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government and shalom there will be no end— on the throne of David and over His kingdom— to establish it and uphold it through justice and righteousness from now until forevermore. The zeal of Adonai-Tzva’ot will accomplish this.” TLV
Attention: We have just passed through the Christmas season. Christmas cards were received heralding the prophetic declaration found in Isaiah 9. Some of you may have heard the musical oratorio by George Frideric Handel titled Messiah. I had the privilege of singing the Messiah in a mass choir and orchestra while in college. It was a powerful experience as the Oratorio is composed of scripture.
I encourage you to read Isaiah 9:5-6 as it is written, placing emphasis at each comma and combining the titles of Messiah together. He is “Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God My Father of Eternity, Prince of Peace.” Not Wonderful, Counselor.
When we take the liberty of misquoting or mis-reciting scripture, we are misrepresenting what God declared. Let’s not change scripture.
Let us also give emphasis on the eternal aspect of this prophecy. When God says, “from now until forevermore,” He means He will fulfill every word. His nature is eternal, so are His words.
Action: I choose to embrace the prophecy foretold by Adonai about Messiah.
Yield: I choose to submit to the reality of Messiah incarnate and eternal.
Engage: I choose to engage with the Holy Spirit in proclaiming Messiah come and coming again.
Relationship: I choose to live in intimacy with Adonai.
Prayer: Father, You told us of the coming Messiah through Isaiah the prophet. I embrace Your Word and prophecy as eternal. Your Word will be fulfilled. Amen.
