Proportion

Prayer: Father, You have the original plan of fairness in the apportionment of land. Help me to learn from Your Word what is equitable, fair and proportional. Amen.

Reading: Numbers 26 key: vs. 52-54
52 Adonai then spoke to Moses saying, 53 “The land is to be divided to these as an inheritance according to the number of names. 54 For the larger, you are to make his inheritance larger, and to the smaller you are to make his inheritance smaller. Each is to receive his inheritance in proportion to his population.

Attention: Growing up in my family, my parents were diligent about making sure gift giving at birthdays and Christmas was even. We may not have always received the same number of gifts, but we always received as close to the dollar amount as possible. Some years one may receive two big gifts, while the others received several gifts, totaling the same amount monetarily. This was their belief system which they lived by.

Adonai gave Moses a mandate, to apportion the land proportionally according to the size of the family tribe corporately, not individually. They were also to use a method of casting lots. In the book of Joshua, we see this method employed in the apportionment of land. They did by action, what Adonai had declared to Moses to be done.

As a nation, we have prided ourselves on being founded on biblical principles, perhaps the principle of proportionality needs to be implemented in our taxation, voting (1-1) and subsidies to states.

Could we benefit from changes based on the principle of proportionality? Can man be totally fair in judging proportionality?

Action: I choose to embrace and be obedient to that which Adonai has declared.

Yield: I give my allegiance to Adonai.

Engage: I choose to engage with Adonai in the principle of proportionality.

Relationship: I choose to be zealous for Adonai and His kingdom work on earth.

Prayer: Father, may I be zealous for You and for Your kingdom. Help me to apply biblical principles which You have declared for our benefit. Amen.

Memory Verse: Philippians 3:20-21
20 For our citizenship is in heaven,
and from there we eagerly wait for the Savior,
    the Lord Yeshua the Messiah.
21 He will transform this humble body of ours
into the likeness of His glorious body,
through the power that enables Him
even to put all things in subjection to Himself.
