Prayer: Father, help me to embrace You and Your ways so that I love what You love and hate what You hate. I desire to be conformed to Your image. Amen.
Reading: Jeremiah 15 key: vs. 15-17 “Adonai, you know. Remember me and think of me. Avenge me against my persecutors. Because of Your long-suffering, do not take me away. Know that for Your sake I endure scorn. Your words were found, so I ate them. Your words were a delight to me and the joy of my heart. For I am called by Your Name, Adonai-Elohei-Tzva’ot. I never sat in the company of revelers nor made merry. Because of Your hand I sat alone, for You filled me with indignation.” TLV
Attention: Imagine, standing before Adonai and being told, “Even if Moses and Samuel stood before Me, My soul could not be toward this people. Cast them out of My presence and let them go out!”
Adonai told Jeremiah, do not even try to change my mind. Even if the greatest of prophets and priests (like Moses and Samuel), I could not be for “this people.” They have abandoned Me, and I have already put into action, judgement.
Jeremiah appeals for himself amid the awareness of God’s coming judgement against His people. He asks for God to intervene as his firewall “against my persecutors.” God knows Jeremiah is a target or scorn. Jeremiah assures God that he loves the scriptures, and he feasts on them. He “delights” in the holy scriptures and finds “joy of (my) heart.” Jeremiah knows full well, whose he is, “For I am called by Your Name, Adonai-Elohei-Tzva’ot.” At God’s direction, he stood (sat) alone and God filled (me) him with indignation.” Jeremiah was filled with the feeling of the rebellious treatment of God.
Adonai asks for Jeremiah to return to Him and be restored, and you will be “My mouth.” He was not to align with the people but stay aligned with Him. “They will fight against you, but will not prevail against you, for I am with you to save you and deliver you.” It is a declaration of Adonai (vs. 20b).”
Jeremiah was told to stand with God, and he would be delivered. We too have a choice in the face of a coming judgement. Will you choose to stand with God or the world?
Action: I choose to stand with God and be His mouth.
Yield: I choose to submit to Your Lordship and Sovereignty.
Engage: I choose to engage with the power of the Holy Spirit in standing with God.
Relationship: I choose to live in obedient submission with Adonai.
Prayer: Father, You require that we love You with all our heart, mind, and soul. We love You when we align with You. Amen.
Memory Verse: Jeremiah 15:19 “Therefore thus says Adonai: “If you return, I will restore you, you will stand before Me. If you extract the precious from the worthless, you will be as My mouth. Let them turn to you, but you must not turn to them.” TLV
