Sacred Furniture

Prayer: Father, thank You for an inside look at Your designed dwelling place during the time of Moses. Please give us insights into the significance of Your Tent of Meeting and its furnishings. Amen.

Reading: Exodus 37 key: vs. 1-5
Bezalel also made the Ark from acacia wood, two and a half cubits long, a cubit and a half wide, and a cubit and a half high. He overlaid it with pure gold inside and out, and made a crown of gold for it all around. He cast four golden rings for it, in the four feet, two rings on the one side, and two on the other. He also made poles of acacia wood, and overlaid them with gold. Then he put the poles into the rings on the sides of the Ark, to carry the Ark.

Attention: What an honor. One specific man was imbued with Holy Spirit inspired ability to create furnishings for the holiest of holy places commanded and designed by Adonai. The specific instruction about size (cubits), materials (acacia wood, gold) and descriptions (almond blossoms, bulbs, flowers). All this work overseen by Bezalel and Oholiab.

Who was Bezalel? He is the Son or Uri, a member of the tribe of Judah (Exo. 31:2) and great grandson of Caleb (1 Chron. 2:20). Caleb will become a prominent figure soon as he helps Joshua lead the Hebrew nation into the promised land.

What was Bezalel instructed to make? The Ark of the Covenant, the Table of Shewbread (also called The Bread of the Presence), the Menorah (candle lampstand), and the Incense Altar (Ritual Objects in the Jerusalem Temple | My Jewish Learning).

Each item had a specific purpose and specific use in the worship of Adonai. If you are not familiar with the furnishings and their purpose, I encourage you to spend a few moments reading and reviewing the link above.

Just by observation, one can see that Adonai used high quality materials and metals in His Tent of Meeting. Every item was a grand display. The inner sanctum only seen by the High Priest. Imagine Bezalel and Oholiab trying to explain the project to their wives or friends. I assume that their attempt at describing the furnishings was beyond words.

Isn’t that our obstacle in trying to describe who Adonai, Yeshua and the Holy Spirit is to us? They are beyond description, too wonderful for words.

We will learn in future scriptures, that the Ark of the Covenant contained three items: Aarons Rod, the Commandments (Two Stone Tablets), and a bowl of Manna. The Shewbread represents the Holy as the bread of Life, the Menorah as the Light of the world, and the Incense as the Holy Spirit and a mention in Revelation 5:8 of “golden bowls full of incense—which are the prayers of the kedoshim.”

Action: My prayer life is elevated by knowing that they are perpetual, extend generationally and are kept in golden bowls of incense.

Yield: I lift my prayers to Adonai! Casting all my care on Him.

Engage: When I pray, heaven and earth are connected.

Relationship: Relationship is lifestyle living with the Eternal One.

Prayer: Father, how wonderful is Your Word. I stand in awe of You today, Holy and awesome are You. Amen.

Memory Verse: Hebrews 12:28-29
Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us show gratitude—through this we may offer worship in a manner pleasing to God, with reverence and awe. 29 For our God is a consuming fire.
