Same Destiny

Prayer: Father, I have so much to learn. Ecclesiastes is challenging. I feel a sense of despair from the author, and it creates an unsettling in my spirit. Teach me today to keep my trust in You. Amen.

Reading: Ecclesiastes 9 key: vs. 2-3 “Everyone shares the same destiny: for the righteous and the wicked; for the good, the ritually clean and the defiled; for one who sacrifices and one who does not sacrifice; as the good person so the sinner; as the one who swears like the one who fears an oath. This is a misery in everything done under the sun: that the same destiny awaits everyone. Moreover, the hearts of all humans are full of evil, and folly is in their hearts during their lives—after that they die.” TLV

Attention: Benjamin Franklin is credited with saying, “Our new Constitution is now established, and has an appearance that promises permanency; but in this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death and taxes.”

Solomon deducts that all men will face the same end, death. Whether rich or poor, wise or foolish, all men will die.

The writer of Hebrew’s says this, “And just as it is appointed for men to die once, and after this judgment, so also Messiah, was offered once to bear the sins of many. He will appear a second time, apart from sin, to those eagerly awaiting Him for salvation (9:27-28).” TLV

What is the cost of sin? According to the apostle Paul, the answer is death (Romans 6:23). Death is assured to all, but the gift of God for the forgiveness of sin is eternal life through Yeshua. I hope that you have called on the name of the Lord (Romans 10:13) and have repented of your sins. There is salvation in no other name but Jesus. (Acts 4:12).

Action: I choose life in Jesus through His blood shed on Calvary.

Yield: I submit to the sovereignty of God.

Engage: I choose to engage with the Holy Spirit in living a life for Him.

Relationship: I choose to live in intimate, holy, obedient relationship with God.

Prayer: Father, death for all is certain. However, forgiveness of sin is available only through Jesus. Eternal life is available only through Yeshua. May all who read today’s journal come to know You and choose life in Jesus. Amen.

Memory Verse: Acts 4:12 “There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved!” TLV
