Servant of God

Prayer: Father, teach me today through the lens of the writer of Chronicles and Deuteronomy. May I gain a deeper understanding of Your word. Amen.

Reading: 1 Chronicles 23 key: vs. 14-17 “But as for Moses the man of God, his sons are named among the tribe of Levi. The sons of Moses: Gershom and Eliezer. The sons of Gershom: Shebuel, the leader. The sons of Eliezer: Rehabiah the chief. Eliezer had no other sons, but the sons of Rehabiah were very numerous.

Attention: What was the writer of 1 Chronicles telling us? He could trace the lineage of the tribe of Levi, the priests, back to Moses through his sons, his son’s sons, and their sons.

What a thing to be able to see a priestly faith lineage which David was able to draw from. The text say he gathered “all the leaders” of Israel along with the Levites and Kohanim. He totaled the men age 20+ at 38,000 men. Of the 38,000 men, 24,000 were task with “oversee(ing) the work of the House of Adonai, 6,000 officers and judges, 4,000 gatekeepers, and 4,000 for praising Adonai “with the instruments which I made for giving praise.”

Can you imagine 38,000 men were task with the oversight of the House of Adonai. Four thousand musicians were task with giving praise to “Adonai with the instruments which I (Adonai) made for giving (Him) praise.”

I have sung in a 200+ voice choir along with orchestra and it was an amazing experience. Four thousand is twenty times bigger than anything which I have participated in giving Adonai praise. Wow.

I learned something else about seeing Moses name mentioned in this passage. Do you know who buried Moses? The answer is found in Deuteronomy 34: 5-6 “So Moses the servant of Adonai died there in the land of Moab, as was from the mouth of Adonai. Then He buried him in the valley in the land of Moab, opposite Beth-peor—but no one knows of his burial place to this day (Deuteronomy 34:5-6).” God buried Moses. That is intimacy Supreme.

One last tidbit of information. Are you familiar with the Two Witnesses in Revelation 11:6, These two have the power to shut the heavens, so that no rain may fall during the days of their prophesying. And they have power over the waters to turn them into blood, and to strike the earth with every kind of plague as often as they wish.” Are there any men in scriptures who match these two descriptions?

The one witness I believe to be Elijah. Who do you think that other witness is?

Action: I choose to trust the veracity of scriptures, Adonai, and the Holy Spirit.

Yield: I choose to submit to the sovereignty of the Holy Spirit.

Engage: I choose to engage with the Holy Spirit in discerning truth!

Relationship: I choose to live in holy, obedient relationship with Adonai.

Prayer: Father, thank You for the truth of scripture which supports Your veracity. It is truthful because You are truthful. Help me to live out Your word every day. Amen.

Memory Verse: John 17:17-19 ““Make them holy in the truth. Your word is truth. Just as You sent Me into the world, so I have sent them into the world. And for their sakes I make Myself holy, so that they also may be made holy in truth.” TLV
