Prayer: Father, I desire to be obedient to Your Word. In a day of scriptural conflict and division. Your followers are being sifted and separated. Open our eyes to see that the conflict is not over compassion but obedience. Amen.
Reading: Isaiah 30 key: vs. 9-12 “For this is a rebellious people, lying children, children unwilling to obey the Torah of Adonai. They say to the seers, “Do not see,” and to the prophets, “Do not prophesy to us what is right. Speak to us smooth words. Prophesy illusions. Get out of the way! Turn away from the path! Let’s hear no more about the Holy One of Israel.” Therefore thus says the Holy One of Israel: “Because you despise this word, and trust in oppression and rely on perversity.” TLV
Attention: Today I read an e-article published by the Western Journal and authored by Anthony Altomari titled, Over 5,000 Churches Have Disaffiliated From UMC This Year, Several Heartland States Have Seen Hundreds Go. The polarizing issue is over same-sex marriage. Those who have disaffiliated, want the church to be more tolerant and embracing of same-sex marriage.
In the article, Mr. Altomari concludes, “Of course, the church is supposed to welcome everyone with open arms. We are all sinners and all need God’s grace.
However, this does not mean that the rules should be rewritten so that more people can feel accepted. Christians are supposed to conform to the teachings of Christ, not the other way around (Over 5,000 Churches Have Disaffiliated from UMC This Year, Several Heartland States Have Seen Hundreds Go (msn.com).”
Isaiah’s words to the Hebrew nation, sound very contemporary. Understand, Isaiah is being dictated to by God. Adonai says, “Now go, write (these words) it on a tablet for them and inscribe it on a scroll, so that it may be as a witness for the last day, forever.” The prophecies given to Isaiah are to be eternal, extending to the future. These words are for our instruction today. That is why the apostle Paul can say to the Corinthian Community, “Now these things happened to them as an example, and it was written down as a warning to us—on whom the ends of the ages have come (1 Corinthians 10:11).”
I hope that the followers of Adonai, will embrace His Law and His instruction and be obedient to it. Changing or adapting the narrative of scripture for our agenda does not change the consequences or judgement of His Word. He is the final adjudicator of His Word.
Action: I choose to be obedient to God’s Word.
Yield: I choose to yield to God’s defining Word and judgement.
Engage: I choose to engage with the Holy Spirit in being obedient to God.
Relationship: I choose to live in obedient, intimate relationship with God.
Prayer: Father, Your Word manifest in Yeshua Messiah, is my standard. May the world come to realize, You are both Judge and King. Amen.
Memory Verse: Acts 17:30-31 “Although God overlooked the periods of ignorance, now He commands everyone everywhere to repent. For He has set a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness, through a Man whom He has appointed. He has brought forth evidence of this to all men, by raising Him from the dead.”
