Solomon’s Prayer

Prayer: Father, teach me today more of Your ways and the ways of Your servants. Amen.

Reading: 2 Chronicles 6 key: vs. 12-15 “Then he stood before the altar of Adonai in front of the entire congregation of Israel and spread forth his hands. For Solomon had made a bronze platform, five cubits long, five cubits wide and three cubits high and placed it in the midst of the court. He stood on it and knelt down upon his knees before all the congregation of Israel and spread out his hands toward heaven and he said, “Adonai, God of Israel, there is no God like You in the heavens or in the earth, keeping covenant and showing mercy to Your servants who walk before You with all their heart.” TLV

Attention: The only request of the apostles was for Yeshua to teach them to pray (Luke 11:1). Luke (11:2-4) and Matthew (6:9-13) both record the Lord’s Prayer (Yeshua) which He demonstrated to them. It is simple, direct, and to the point.

However, I would encourage you to read and ponder John 17, Yeshua’s High Priestly prayer prior to His arrest. Yeshua prays for Himself, that He may glorify the Father. He asks for eternal life for those His Father has given Him. He explains eternal life, “And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Yeshua the Messiah, the One You sent (vs.3).”  He tells His Father Adonai, that He has glorified Him by completing the work He was sent to do. Then He asks that the Father and He be glorified as He was before the world came into existence. Yeshua is claiming His existence before the worlds were formed in Genesis.

He continues by asking God for the security of those who have been given Him. That we would be one just as “We are,” one. He requests that, “I am not asking that You take them out of the world, but that You keep them from the evil one (vs. 15).”

Imagine, we have the prayerful protection of Messiah from the evil one! We have the unity of the Godhead as an example of the unity He wants us to experience.

Messiah wants us to have the humility of Solomon who raised his hand towards heaven and praise the King of kings, and Lord of lords. He wants us to tell the world. He wants the world to hear us worship Him in Spirit and Truth. I pray that our praise, like the praise at the Temple dedication gets louder with every praise raised to Him.

Action: I choose to give Adonai a sacrifice of praise today!

Yield: I choose to yield my life and voice as a sacrifice of praise.

Engage: I choose to engage in the practice of raising my hands and voice to Adonai.

Relationship: I choose to live in holy, intimate, obedient relationship with Adonai.

Prayer: Father, we have the examples of Solomon and Yeshua with which to pattern our prayer and praise of You! May my praise be acceptable to You. Amen.

Memory Verse: Luke 11:1 “Now Yeshua was praying in a certain place. When He finished, one of His disciples said to Him, “Master, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples.” TLV
