Prayer: Father, the life-giving power is still in the blood. May we be reminded today, the difference between the native and the foreigner, is the blood. Amen.
Reading: Exodus 12:12-13
12 “For I will go through the land of Egypt on that night and strike down every firstborn, both men and animals, and I will execute judgments against all the gods of Egypt. I am Adonai. 13 The blood will be a sign for you on the houses where you are. When I see the blood, I will pass over you. So there will be no plague among you to destroy you when I strike the land of Egypt.
Attention: Recently, I visited my physician for an annual physical. He did a blood draw to perform a few different tests on my blood, like glucose and cholesterol. Glucose because diabetes is found genetically in my family and cholesterol because past tests have revealed some elevation in my LDL’s. The test results are a sign to me and my physician, of wellness or need of attention.
In the inauguration of the Passover meal and the final plague, the sign given by Adonai was for the blood of a spotless or perfect lamb to be smeared on the “two doorposts and on the crossbeam (vs.7)” of each Hebrew home. The angel assigned to perform this judgement of death, was to watch for the blood and “Passover” each home which applied the sign. To those who did not apply the blood, the first-born male would be slain. I would take this to mean, this rule would apply to any slothful Hebrew who didn’t follow Moses’ instruction. Can you imagine, not applying the blood to the doorposts of your home after receiving the warning instructions from Moses?
In like manner, we have been instructed by the Lord Yeshua, before His crucifixion, to honor His memorial last supper, by receiving the bread (representing His body, broken for us) and the cup (representing the blood He shed on the cross).
The difference pre and post resurrection is found in the blood. Prior to Yeshua, animals (particularly sheep) were sacrificed and their blood spilt, as a substitutionary payment for the sins of the people. By necessity, more animals were required. Yeshua was the Lamb of Adonai, who then became the perfect sacrifice, accomplishing what no animal’s blood could, once and for all, forever.
So, the question we all have to answer, “Have I applied the blood of Jesus to the doorposts of my heart?” Will I pass the DNA test when death comes knocking? Will my blood test positive to Yeshua’s blood, and prove I belong to Him? If you have not ever called upon the name of the Lord for forgiveness of sins (Romans 10:13), if you have never repented of your sin, I encourage you today is the day!
I have witnessed many participating in communion services naïve and ignorant of what they are doing. You have no business taking or receiving the Lord’s Communion if you have never had the blood of Yeshua applied to your life or heart. You are receiving communion under false pretenses. The penalty for knowledgeably receiving communion is serious. You may bring judgement upon yourself according to 1 Corinthians 11:27-32, which includes illness and death.
I encourage you today to apply the blood of Yeshua to the door posts of your heart. When death comes knocking, the blood of Yeshua will be the deciding factor for where you spend eternity. I encourage you today, when death comes knocking, will you be passed over for eternal death and enter eternal life? You can determine eternity today by “Choosing Life.”
Action: I have chosen life today in receiving the blood of Yeshua!
Yield: I give my heart; I give my life to Yeshua!
Engage: I walk with Yeshua!
Relationship: I claim relationship with Adonai through the blood of Yeshua.
Prayer: Father, this is a serious choice every man, woman, and child must make. We are all required to choose life or death. May we all choose life with You! Amen.
Memory Verse: 1 Peter 1:18-19
18 You know that you were redeemed from the futile way of life handed down from your ancestors—not with perishable things such as silver or gold, 19 but with precious blood like that of a lamb without defect or spot, the blood of Messiah.
