Prayer: Father, open my eyes to see new truth and revelation from Your Word. Amen.
Reading: Isaiah 15 key: vs. 1 The burden of Moab. For in the night that Ar is devastated, Moab is ruined; for in the night that Kir is devastated, Moab is ruined. “TLV
Attention: Have you ever carried a burden for someone or something? Parents naturally carry a burden for their children. They want the best for each of their children in life experience but for assorted reasons, it is not meant to be. One of their children may begin life with a challenging health event. Another may not develop at a normal pace. Yet another may suffer an accident in their teen years.
I have had the fortune of maintaining connection with a high school buddy for over fifty years. When we were still in high school, his younger brother was in a car accident which left him paralyzed and in a coma. His family did everything medically that they could do for their son. He never came out of the coma and passed about a year later. They carried the burden of his passing for years.
When I was in high school, I played Varsity basketball. One of the Junior Varsity players called a time out during a game and collapsed. He passed during the ambulance ride to the hospital. The diagnosis was viral pneumonia. There was no warning that he was sick. I remember his dad visiting our practice sessions for weeks after his passing, in hopes that he would see his boy again.
In both examples, the family carried a burden of grief over a sudden, unexpected loss.
In the book of Isaiah, a burden is being declared by Adonai in chapters 13, 15, 17, 19, 21, 22, and 23, for nations and cities. Some were used by Adonai as instruments of judgement upon Israel. They were once great and mighty. All had one thing in common. They all worshipped other gods. God showed each of them His might. All were humbled. Some no longer exist at the declaration of Adonai.
God is the only Supreme God. It is in His hands to make nations rise and fall. The United States has been a great nation because of our relationship with God. That relationship has changed and cannot be legislated. The United States needs a new heart of people who will live obediently to His Word. We are similar in nature to the Israel of old. Do we identify with the nations around us and now within us who worship gods other than Adonai? If we do identify with the gods of other nations, expect judgement.
Choose today whom you will serve and identify with, Adonai or other gods.

Engage: I choose to engage with the Holy Spirit in a lifestyle pleasing to Him.

Prayer: Father, help me to lay my burdens down before You. You did not mean for me to carry my burdens alone. Help me to give my burdens to You. Amen.
Memory Verse: Matthew 11:28-30 “Come to Me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and ‘you will find rest for your souls.’ For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” TLV
