The Ultimate “Cry Uncle”

Prayer: Father, there is a cry for help, a cry for mercy, which surrenders and subordinates my will to Yours. This is the cry of those who declare Your sovereignty and are no longer willing to live in rebellion with You. I am one of Your children who has submitted, repented, and received your redemption. I have been bought with the blood of Jesus! Sealed for the day of Yeshua ’s return! In the name of Yeshua, amen.

Reading: Exodus 11 key: 4-6
So Moses said, “This is what Adonai says: At around midnight I will go out into the midst of Egypt, and all the firstborn in the land of Egypt will die—from the firstborn of Pharaoh sitting on his throne to the firstborn of the maidservant behind the mill, along with all the firstborn cattle.  There will be a great cry throughout all the land of Egypt, the likes of which has never been before nor will ever be again.

Attention: I’ll never forget, my first week in Little Rock, Arkansas. I believe it was noon on a Wednesday. I had just stepped from my vehicle and the local warning system began blaring. I watched other people in the parking lot just walk into the stores like nothing was going on. I wondered if I was supposed to run for cover or to the nearest bomb shelter. So, I quickly called a local friend and told her my predicament. She laughed and calmly said, “no need to run and hide. The local authorities conduct a test of the emergency system which alerts citizens of an approaching tornado, every Wednesday at noon.”

I felt foolish, but I was new in town and how was I supposed to know? Adonai shares His plan with Moses, “At around midnight I will go out into the midst of Egypt, and all the firstborn in the land of Egypt will die—from the firstborn of Pharoah sitting on his throne to the firstborn of the maidservant behind the mill, along with all the firstborn of cattle.” Who but God would know and identify a first born from the rest of the siblings? Who but God would be able to simultaneously institute the plan in every household?

What He termed as the “great cry” would be heard all over Egypt. Every Egyptian household would be begging the Hebrew nation to leave, anxious to give them their wealth to leave, never to see their faces again. Pharoah was very prophetic as he declared at the conclusion of the former chapter, “Go away from me! Take heed never to see my face again, because the day you do, you will die!” Death was approaching, but it was not Moses’ death, nor the any of those who followed Adonai’s prescription for being passed over.

The prescription God put in place for the Hebrew nation, is still in place today. Tomorrow’s reading will reveal the requirements for being saved from the final plague, “Death.”

Action: I heed today the declaration made by God. I apply the blood of The Lamb of God to the doorposts of my heart!

Yield: I give my heart to Yeshua.

Engage: I engage with Adonai when I accept His plan for salvation.

Relationship: I become one of His own, when I am washed in the blood of Jesus.

Prayer: Father, I plead the blood of Jesus, which has washed me white as snow! You have redeemed me and count me as Yours. Amen.

Memory Verse: 1 Peter 1:18-19
18 You know that you were redeemed from the futile way of life handed down from your ancestors—not with perishable things such as silver or gold, 19 but with precious blood like that of a lamb without defect or spot, the blood of Messiah.
