Then God Spoke

Prayer: Father, open my eyes and heart to Your Word today. I pray for new insight into the heart of Noah, a man who found favor in Your eyes. Amen.

Reading: Genesis 8 key vs. 20
20 Then Noah built an altar to Adonai and he took of every clean domestic animal and of every clean flying creature and he offered burnt offerings on the altar.

Attention: Imagine, you have been water-bound for most of half a year. There are no side windows to view what is happening outside. There is no captain’s deck. The only window is above you. You only have a vertical view. Adonai invites you and all your family and all the animals to come out of the ark. What is the first thing you do? Do you form a scout team to survey the land and have everyone come back and report what they have found? Do you form an expedition team and hike on down the mountain (vs. 4)? Did you notice what Noah did?

The first thing that Noah did upon touching dry ground is to worship Adonai. He built an altar and sacrificed and held family worship. He led his family in worship. We are told that he only selected “clean” animals from every “domestic” and “flying” animals. What was Adonai’s response? “When Adonai smelled the soothing aroma, Adonai said in His heart, “I will never again curse the ground on account of man, even though the inclination of the heart of humankind is evil from youth. Nor will I ever again smite all living creatures, as I have done.”

Adonai’s heart was touched by the worship of Noah. This is the impact of our worship. Adonai inhabits the praises of His people (Psalms 22:3). When we worship Him in spirit and truth, Adonai is activated to act upon the requests of His people. His heart is moved. Notice, there is an “aroma” which is emanated from our praise and prayers which drifts up toward Adonai (Revelation 5:8).

So, just like Noah, may the first thing we do when we are brought through a storm of life be to worship Him.

Action: I will give praise and worship to Adonai for bringing me through the past few years!

Yield: Praise is yielding ourselves to Adonai.

Engage: I am engaged with the Holy One when I worship Him.

Relationship: Relationship is established when I worship Adonai.

Prayer: Father, may my first response be to worship You when You have brought me through a storm crisis of life. I praise You today. In the name of Yeshua Messiah, amen.
