There Must Not

Prayer: Father, why do we think that You have changed Your mind about things which You found to be abominations in the Old Testament? Help us today to make a determination about those things which you find detestable. Amen.

Reading: Deuteronomy 18 key: vs. 10-11
10 There must not be found among you anyone who makes his son or daughter pass through the fire, or a fortune-teller, soothsayer, omen reader, or sorcerer, 11 or one who casts spells, or a medium, a spiritist, or one who calls up the dead.

Attention: Why do we think that God has changed His mind about something when He tells us in Numbers 23: 19 “God is not a man who lies, or a son of man who changes his mind! Does He speak and then not do it, or promise and not fulfill it?” Or, in Hebrews 13:8 “Yeshua the Messiah is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” The consistency between Old and New Testament testifies of Adonai’s consistency or what theologically is called veracity. Adonai cannot be contrary to His nature. He is truth and cannot lie.

So, when Adonai says that we shall not participate or practice those things He calls abominable, why do we feel as New Testament followers, that we get a pass? That we can dabble or flirt with the demonic and not get burnt?

Let’s also establish that Jesus Messiah said this, “Do not think that I came to abolish the Torah or the Prophets! I did not come to abolish, but to fulfill (Matthew 5:17).” This declaration by Yeshua cannot be any clearer! The law, the Torah, still applies.

Action: I choose today to stop and repent of all activity I have been doing with any facet of the occult.

Yield: I choose to surrender my will to Adonai, for His use.

Engage: I choose to engage with the Holy Spirit in the process of sanctification, holiness.

Relationship: I choose to be in full intimate relationship with Adonai.

Prayer: Father, help us all to stay away from those things which create curiosity and lead us astray. Help us to establish a daily Berean lifestyle of searching the scriptures to confirm what we are being taught. Amen.

Memory Verse: Numbers 23:19
19 God is not a man who lies,
or a son of man who changes his mind!
Does He speak and then not do it,
or promise and not fulfill it?
