Prayer: Father, give me recall this morning! Give me a recall of Your goodness to me. Amen.
Reading: Lamentations 3 key: vs. 21-25 “This I recall to my heart— therefore I have hope: Because of the mercies of Adonai we will not be consumed, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning! Great is Your faithfulness. “Adonai is my portion,” says my soul, “therefore I will hope in Him.” Adonai is good to those who wait for Him, to the soul that seeks Him.” TLV
Attention: Whenever we are in those moments of lament, sorrow, and grief, it is good to recall, bring to remembrance, the goodness of the Lord.
Have I had my moments of grief, remorse, sorrow, suffering, or pain? Absolutely. One cannot be my age and not have experienced deep moments of the above emotions. I remember the times I had back surgery. In both instances, I suffered the trauma of sciatic pain when the nerve seizes up. Neither time did I receive a prescription. Neither time did anything over the counter reach the deep pain.
I have experienced deep emotional pain from divorce, death, financial difficulties, loss of relationship, and disenfranchisement from my children. In each of these, I can say, if it weren’t for the Lord, I don’t know where I would be.
I can remember admiring people who were my current age, when they exhibited joy, happiness, and spoke of the blessings of the Lord. They were not bitter from the past, but they recalled (brought to remembrance), the faithfulness of God.
If you are going through a rough patch in life, I encourage you to reflect on the goodness of God throughout your life. He has been faithful to me. He will be faithful to you. Just call out to Him, repent if necessary. Draw near to Him, He promises to draw near to you.
Action: I choose to recall the goodness of God today and give Him praise and glory.
Yield: I choose to submit to the sovereignty of God. He is faithful!
Engage: I choose to engage in the act of recalling the goodness of God today!
Relationship: I choose to live in holy relationship with God.
Prayer: Father, thank You for Your goodness and faithfulness toward me. I praise and glorify You! Amen.
Memory Verse: 1 Timothy 1:17 “Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.” TLV
