Prayer: Father, this is the day for everyone. It is the day which You have given us. We are not guaranteed another day, only this day. I will rejoice and be glad. Amen.
Reading: Judges 4 key: vs. 14-16 “Then Deborah said to Barak, “Arise! For this is the day in which Adonai will deliver Sisera into your hand. Has Adonai not gone out before you?” So Barak came down from Mount Tabor with 10,000 men following him. Adonai threw Sisera and all his chariots and all his army into confusion before Barak with the edge of the sword. Then Sisera got down from his chariot and fled away on foot. But Barak pursued the chariots and the army as far as Harosheth-ha-goyim. The whole army of Sisera fell by the sword; not one was left.” TLV
Attention: What would you do if a prophetess said to you, “This is the day.” Would you, like Barak, go up against the latest battle technology (900 iron chariots) without apprehension, if she told you she knew that God had already “commanded, Go, march to Mount Tabor, and take with you 10,000 men.”? Oh, and by the way, “I (Adonai) will draw out to you Sisera, commander of Jabin’s army with his chariots and his multitude, and I will give him into your hand.”
I find Barak’s response interesting, “If you are going with me, then I will go. But if you aren’t going with me, I won’t go.” This is a military commander, asking a prophetess to accompany him. Seems odd to us, however, Deborah represented the presence of God. Not a foolish man who asks God to accompany him.
Adonai’s presence we should always seek, and for the New Covenant follower, be assured He dwells within you. He is always with you. Are you completely His? He promised He would never leave us or forsake us.
It was Adonai (God) who delivered Sisera and his armies into Bnei-Yisrael’s hands. They only had to be obedient and finish what He had created, as (He) Adonai threw Sisera and all his chariots and all his army into confusion before Barak with the edge of the sword.”
May we choose like Barak, to be obedient to the command of Adonai. May we listen to His voice or a word through a prophet. May we be always aware of His presence.
Action: I choose from this day forward to seek Adonai’s voice and to listen and obey.
Yield: I choose today, to yield to Adonai’s commands.
Engage: I choose today to engage in warfare with the aid of the Holy Spirit against evil.
Relationship: I choose today to be aware of the indwelling presence of Adonai in my life.
Prayer: Father, I choose to engage in the spiritual battles which Your kingdom faces every day. You have told us through Your Word, where the battle is located and who and what we are to battle. Help me to be zealous in being one of your warriors. Amen.
Memory Verse: Ephesians 6:12 “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the worldly forces of this darkness, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.”
