To Do All

Prayer: Father, may my desire and objective be to do all the words of the Torah. Amen.

Reading: Deuteronomy 30 key: vs. 11-14
11 “For this mitzvah that I am commanding you today is not too difficult for you, nor is it far off. 12 It is not in the heavens, that you should say, ‘Who will go up for us to the heavens and get it for us, and have us hear it so we may do it?’ 13 Nor is it across the sea, that you should say, ‘Who will cross over for us to the other side of the sea and get it for us, and have us hear it so we may do it?’ 14 No, the word is very near to you—in your mouth and in your heart, to do it. TLV

Attention: I remember one morning as an adolescent that my mother was fixing breakfast while my brother and I were getting ready to catch the school bus. Anyone can be sleepy and groggy and make a mistake, and this morning, she grabbed the pepper instead of salt, and added it to the cream of wheat. There was no mistaking the taste, yuk!

Have you ever tried to put something together without reading or consulting the directions? Much is our experience in life when we try to do it without consulting the Master’s manual, the scriptures.

He tells us that it is “not too difficult for you, nor is it far off.” We only need to open the pages to receive instruction. God dictated it and had it written for our instruction! The Bible is God’s love letter to us. His purpose, so that we may know Him, His law, and to keep all of it.

He tells us, “I call the heavens and the earth to witness about you today, that I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse. Therefore choose life so that you and your descendants may live, by loving Adonai your God, listening to His voice, and clinging to Him. For He is your life and the length of your days” (vs. 19-20a).

We choose life and blessing by following His Law and Commandments. Why would we want any less? We pray for His blessing and go our own way. He tells us, you will receive blessing and life when you listen and obey.

Action: I choose to live a lifestyle of obedience unto Adonai.

Yield: I choose to surrender my will to the will of Adonai.

Engage: I choose to engage with the help of the Holy Spirit in a lifestyle of obedience.

Relationship: I choose to live in close, intimate relationship with Adonai.

Prayer: Father, the formula seems so simple, and You tell us Your mitzvah is “not too difficult for you.” Help me to have an obedient, submissive will to You. In the name of the Messiah. Amen.

Memory Verse: Deuteronomy 30:19-20a “I call the heavens and the earth to witness about you today, that I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse. Therefore choose life so that you and your descendants may live, by loving Adonai your God, listening to His voice, and clinging to Him. For He is your life and the length of your days.”
