Prayer: Father, help me speak of Your love which is pure and true, unquenchable. Fill me with Your love and let Your love flow from me. Amen.
Reading: Song of Songs 8 key: vs. 6-7 “Set me like a seal over your heart, like a seal on your arm. For love is as strong as death, jealousy as cruel as Sheol. Its flames are bolts of fire, the flame of Adonai. Many waters cannot quench love, nor rivers wash it away. If one gave all the wealth of his house for love, it would be utterly despised.” TLV
Attention: How many seals do you have on your lover/spouse? I assume that each of the men have given their wife a ring of value to show her and remind her of your affection. I assume that at functions you attend together, she places her arm in your arm as a seal or sign of belonging to each to each other. I assume that in a crowd or sea of women, you could and would spot her easily.
Love is “strong” claims the author of Song of Songs. What is strong about love? Love is emotional and the feelings tend to be possessive. I am assuming that we all have experienced the emotion of jealousy from our wives. It may not have been labeled as jealousy at the moment, but the expression came from paying too much attention to another female.
Jealousy the writer says, is “cruel.” I encourage you to give your wife/lover frequent, daily, reassurance of your love. Reassurance is a lifetime process. Make a frequent investment into your wife. It will bring bountiful dividends.
Action: I choose to provide my wife with a high level of reassurance of my love and affection.
