Prayer: Father, thank You for chronicles of the Your interaction with Moses and the Hebrew nation. There is much similarity between our lives and theirs. Please lead each of us out of Egypt, in our thinking, our worship, and our rebellion. You are the only Adonai. Amen.
Reading: Exodus 40 key: vs. 1-5
Then Adonai spoke to Moses saying, 2 “On the first day of the first month, you will set up the Tabernacle of the Tent of Meeting. 3 You are to put the Ark of the Testimony there, and screen off the Ark with the curtain. 4 Then bring in the table, and set in order the bread that is on it. Bring in the menorah and light its lamps. 5 Set the golden incense altar in front of the Ark of the Testimony, and hang the curtain over the entrance of the Tabernacle.
Attention: It is set up time; the Tabernacle or Tent of Meeting and all its furnishings are completed.
Have you ever lived around a building project, be it a barn raising, or a new construction house? A couple years ago, I lived near a project which was being constructed for a Children’s Museum. The project attracted the attention of onlookers from the excavation to the erection of a 3 story building, using a crane to put together the steel girder structure. It reminded me of my brother’s erector set of years ago.
Imagine the excitement, curiosity, and mystery, as the structure for the Tabernacle is being set up. Be aware that this structure is different than any they had ever seen. Not only was it holy and sacred, but it was also mobile.
They watched as Moses “finished the work.” What happened next had to bring a sense of awe over the entire nation. “Then the cloud (Adonai) covered the Tent of Meeting, and the glory of Adonai filled the Tabernacle. Moses was unable to enter into the Tent of Meeting, because the cloud resided there, and the glory of Adonai filled the Tabernacle. Now whenever the cloud was taken up from over the Tabernacle, Bnei-Yisrael went forward, throughout their journeys. But if the cloud was not taken up, then they did not move out until the day that it was. For the cloud of Adonai was on the Tabernacle by day and a fire was there by night, in the sight of all the house of Israel throughout all their journeys” (vs. 34-38).
Why do we not see such manifestations of Adonai today? I’m assuming because Adonai’s spirit resides within us; however, we may see manifestations the more in tune we are to His Spirit. A couple of months ago my wife and I had the experience of finding a tiny sparrow inside our home. Two different times, this little bird slipped in unnoticed. We believe it happened while leaving the door cracked for our dog to re-enter. Each time, we were able with little effort to coax the sparrow into leaving by the same door. Just feet away from our decking are bushes which provide perfect habitat for nesting birds. We believe that this was further evidence of the Spirit’s presence. I have even started documenting dreams, visions and manifestations of what the Spirit is doing.
Action: I will watch and observe the moving of the Spirit in various manifestations.
Yield: I yield to the Spirit’s leading and manifesting.
Engage: Engage by praying for the Spirit’s manifestations.
Relationship: I choose to live by the Spirit.
Prayer: Father, You care even for the little sparrow and You care more for us than them. So, how much more will You provide for us. Amen.
Memory Verse: Matthew 6:26
26 “Look at the birds of the air. They do not sow or reap or gather into barns; yet your Father in heaven feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?
