Prayer: Father, the straight answer is, there is no hope without You. I place all my hope in You! Amen.
Read: Job 27 key: vs. 8-10
8 For what hope has the godless,
when he is cut off,
when God takes his soul?
9 Will God hear his cry
when trouble comes upon him?
10 Will he delight in Shaddai?
Will he call upon God at all times?
Attention: I recently had a man contact me who I had not seen in the past four years. We made plans to get together and then he canceled. He claimed that he was not feeling well. I thought I might not hear from him again, but he reappeared a week later. We again set a day and time to meet at his residence. When I arrived, we exchanged pleasantries and then he got right to the point. He was reeling and depressed from the loss of a four-year relationship. The details aren’t important. This man has three properties, a pension, and a nice classic car. He lives comfortably, but he is looking for meaning in everything but a relationship with God. We spent the rest of the evening with him pining over an unhealthy relationship with a woman.
Today, Job tells us about the end of the godless. They either lose it, or leave it all behind. “When he opens his eyes (all his wealth), all is gone. Terrors overtake him like a flood; a storm sweeps him away at night. The east wind picks him up and he is gone; it sweeps him out of his place.” It all vanishes and disappears. He discovers that he is alone with nothing of this world.
We can learn a valuable lesson from Job. He lost everything of value, family, and wealth, and maintained his integrity. He established his integrity with God and his friends. “I will maintain my righteousness, and not let it go.”
We have already established that we have no righteousness apart from the righteousness imputed to us through Jesus when we are born again. In these uncertain days, I encourage you to affirm your integrity with God. Solidify your relationship with the One who can and will save your soul. The One who makes life worth living and worth living for.
Action: I will confirm today, my love for God.
Yield: I will deepen my relationship with the One that matters.
Engage: I will engage in a Spirit-filled, Spirit-fueled, Spirit-led lifestyle.
Relationship: I will invest my life in the most important lifestyle I can ever have.
Prayer: Father, You are my life! In You I live and move and have my being! Amen.
Memory Verse: Acts 17:28
28 for ‘In Him we live and move and have our being.’
As some of your own poets have said, ‘For we also are His offspring.’
