Who Are You Working For?

Prayer: Father, perspective is all important. May I see life through Your lens of scripture. Amen.

Reading: Ezekiel 29 key: vs. 18-20 ““Son of man, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon made his army labor hard against Tyre. Every head became bald and every shoulder chafed. But he and his army had no profit from Tyre for the labor that he had expended against it.” Therefore thus says Adonai Elohim: “Behold, I will give the land of Egypt to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon. He will carry off her abundance, take her spoil and take her prey. It will be the wages for his army. I have given him the land of Egypt as his wages for which he served, because they worked for Me.” It is a declaration of Adonai.” TLV

Attention: Placing stickers on your car to express one’s particular preferences or philosophy of life has been popular for the past thirty to forty years. I recall one I saw during the Jesus Culture Revolution era said, “I work for a Jewish carpenter.”

I found it interesting that God (Adonai) references the life of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon to Ezekiel, when I mentioned him yesterday. God’s point of supremacy is underscored when He says, he (Nebuchadnezzar) “worked for Me.” I have referenced at various times in journals, that Solomon declares, “A king’s heart is like a stream of water in the hand of Adonai; he directs it wherever He wants (Proverbs 21:1).”

Understanding who you work for makes all the difference in the world. You will see that boss who is severe and abrasive differently. You may even consider praying for them and observing them change as the Holy Spirit transforms you, heart, soul, and mind.

Action: I choose to embrace Adonai as my King, Lord, and Sovereign.

Yield: I choose to submit to the Sovereign of all gods.

Engage: I choose to engage with the Holy Spirit in living a godly life.

Relationship: I choose to live in holy relationship with Adonai.

Prayer: Father, I may have earthly managers, but I work for You. I seek to please You and seek Your pleasure. Amen.

Memory Verse: Colossians 3:23 “Whatever you do, work at it from the soul, as for the Lord and not for people.” TLV
