Who is like Adonai?

Prayer: Father, You deserve my praise in all ways, from the rising of the sun and to its going down. Your name be praised. Amen.

Reading: Psalm 113 key: vs. 5-6
Who is like Adonai our God,
    enthroned on high,
who brings Himself down to look
    upon heaven and upon earth?

Attention: Can you answer the question posed by the psalmist in verses 5-6? What is the primary difference between Adonai and all other gods? The answer is found in verse 6, “who brings Himself down to look upon heaven and upon earth?” None other has done that, only Adonai. Only He has come to earth and returned to His throne in Heaven and is promised to come again. All other gods were born of man and woman, died and are still in their grave.

The psalmist mentions another key difference between Adonai and all other gods. There is mention in the scriptures of women who had difficulty in conceiving, they were barren. Rachel (Genesis 29:31) and Hannah (1 Samuel 1) come to mind, as women whom God blessed with a male child. They did not have the fertility options we have available today. If you have issues with infertility, know that Adonai is the giver and blesser of children. The Bible gives a strong message of Adonai as the source of children. Even the psalmist gives Adonai praise for settling the barren woman in her home as a joyful mother of children.

These are just two of the reasons Adonai deserves our praise. Can you see from scripture other reasons Adonai deserves your praise all through your day? (If you need help with finding another reason, check out verse 7.)

Action: I will give Adonai praise from the raising of the sun!

Yield: Praise requires yielding of ourselves to Adonai.

Engage: Praise is an action from ourselves to One who is higher than us.

Relationship: Full relationship with Adonai requires our praise.

Prayer: Father, I praise You today because Your mercies are new every morning! You are Supreme, above all other gods. You alone are the giver of life both physically and spiritually. Amen.

Memory Verse: Psalm 113:3
From the rising of the sun to its going down
the Name of Adonai is to be praised.
