Prayer: Father, Your words speak life and wisdom. May I hide Your words in my heart and live by them. Amen.
Reading: 2 Chronicles 16 key: vs. 11-13 “Behold, the acts of Asa, from beginning to end, are written in the book of the Kings of Judah and Israel. Now in the thirty-nineth year of his reign, Asa became diseased in his feet. His illness was severe, yet even in his disease he did not seek Adonai but physicians. Finally Asa slept with his fathers, dying in the forty-first year of his reign.” TLV
Attention: It is difficult for me to understand someone like king Asa, who from the beginning of his reign, He sought Adonai first and reinstituted reforms drawing the nation back to Adonai. In his final years, rather than seeking God for help from his adversaries, he contacts king Ben-hadad of Aram, offering him gold and silver from the treasuries of the Temple, to lure him from his covenant with Northern Israel.
Then, he contracts a foot disease and again, rather than seeking healing from God, he consults a doctor. The text does not say this implicitly, but his consulting a doctor before consulting God was offensive to God.
The studying that I have done recently regarding healing, is that healing and deliverance from demons are the two things which Jesus sent the first 70 disciples out to do according to the account which the apostle Luke records, “Then heal the sick in that town, and say to them, ‘The kingdom of God has come near to you (Luke 10:9).’ Upon their return, the seventy excitedly tell Jesus, “Then the seventy returned with joy, saying, “Master, even the demons submit to us in Your name (Luke 10:17)!”
When are we going to return to the early disciple’s instructions Jesus gave them? Are they no longer applicable? Do we have an inappropriate understanding about healing and demonic activity?
I would love to hear your thoughts on this topic as I am working on a new book which addresses Jesus’ command to heal and deliver.
Action: I choose to seek Adonai first in regard to healing of disease and demonic deliverance.
Yield: I choose to submit to the commands of Adonai upon my life as a disciple of Yeshua.
Engage: I choose to engage with the Holy Spirit in applying His healing touch to my life and others.
Relationship: I choose to live in holy, intimate, obedient relationship with God.
Memory Verse: Mark 16:17-18 “These signs will accompany those who believe: in My name they will drive out demons; they will speak new languages; they will handle snakes; and if they drink anything deadly, it will not harm them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will get well.” TLV
