Whose World is This?

Prayer: Father, how can I know You unless I know Your Word? I pray for those who are this journey with me to discover and know You. I pray that this will be a new year of discovery and going deeper into relationship with You. In Jesus, name above all names, amen.

Reading: Psalm 24 key: vs. 1
A psalm of David.
The earth is Adonai’s and all that fills it—
the world, and those dwelling on it.

Attention: Isn’t it great to know Who owns the earth, all that “fills it” and the world? Ownership is ascribed to God at a level that boggles the imagination and dwarfs the billionaires which have so much wealth in worldly terms. And why shouldn’t He own it? He did create it all and has left His signature upon all creation.

I love some of the old classic music. If you have not discovered the classics, I encourage you to have a listen to Handel’s Messiah and/or Mendelssohn’s Elijah. Both men had to have had a pretty amazing understanding of Scripture to have created both works.

I enjoy listening to a major portion of the Messiah over the Christmas holiday from a couple different presentations. It is interesting to hear the variance of interpretations and tempos by the conductor and soloists. Regardless of the individual styles and variances, the message is the same and based in Scripture. One of the songs, Lift Up Your Heads, is word for word taken from today’s psalm and I am giving you the link today to enjoy! I hope it is inspirational to you and provides you a taste of David’s joy in penning these words.

Action: I acknowledge and proclaim God as the Sovereign owner of the world.

Yield: I am bondslave of the Sovereign!

Engage: When I acknowledge ownership, I engage with God in the Holy Spirit.

Relationship: Understanding my relationship with God is vitally important as it provides my identity.

Prayer: Father, I acknowledge You as Sovereign owner over all the earth and the world. This is my Father’s world! Amen.

Memory Verse: Psalm 24: 7-10
Lift up your heads, O gates,
and be lifted up, you everlasting doors:
that the King of glory may come in.
“Who is this King of glory?”
Adonai strong and mighty,
Adonai mighty in battle!
Lift up your heads, O gates,
and lift them up, you everlasting doors:
that the King of glory may come in.
10 “Who is this King of glory?”
AdonaiTzva’ot—He is the King of glory! Selah
