Prayer: Father, lead me into correct thinking about Your sovereign plan. Amen.
Reading: 2 Chronicles 23 key vs. 1 “Now in the seventh year Jehoiada strengthened himself and brought the officers of hundreds—Azariah the son of Jeroham, Ishmael the son of Jehohanan, Azariah the son of Obed, Maaseiah the son of Adaiah, and Elishaphat the son of Zichri—into a covenant with him.” TLV
Attention: What is the significance of the man named Jehoiada? His name means “Yahweh knows.” Who is he? He is the priest who led a coup against Queen Athaliah. She was the evil mother of Azaiah who usurped the throne in Jerusalem upon her son Azaiah’s death by killing all his son’s. What grandmother slays her grandchildren?
Her own greed for the throne caused her to kill all her grandsons, except that God in His providence and the keeping of His covenant with David, called upon Jehosheabeath to hide Joash. The only remaining heir of Azaiah.
What we witness in today’s reading is a priest who strengthens himself by cutting covenants with those who had military control and reinstalling the rightful heir to the throne of David. Kudos for a man of God who strengthens himself and does the right thing!
This sole action of Jehoiada combined with the action of Jehoshebeath, preserved the royal line which God had covenanted with David.
I am publishing a new book (I have not settled on a title at this moment) which addresses the New things which Jesus launched upon His ascension into heaven. One of the chapters addresses the reinstallation of men’s roles within the Kingdom. Much like Jehoiada, men are going to be strengthened in the Holy Spirit and assume roles which we have avoided. We will now engage in this New Era as Ekklesia.
I hope you will engage with this new book and discover all that you are in Jesus the Messiah.
Action: I choose to be a man of strength and power in the Holy Spirit.
Yield: I choose to submit to the authority of scripture and the supremacy of God.
Engage: I choose to engage in the power of the Spirit.
Relationship: I choose to live in holy, intimate, obedient relationship with God.
Prayer: Father, may we learn from the life of Jehoiada, that there are times we must man up in the Spirit and do what is right. Give us the courage to do what is right. Amen.
Memory Verse: Jacob (James) 4:17 “Therefore whoever knows the right thing to do and does not do it—for him it is sin.” TLV
