Your Word has kept me Alive!

Prayer: Father, Your Word is life to me. Sustain me on every word. Nourish me I pray. Amen.

Reading: Psalm 119 key: vs. 50
50 My comfort in my affliction is this:
Your word has kept me alive.

Attention: If you have been participating in the Choose Life Journal plan for a while now, you know that I encourage everyone over the course of study to find a life verse. A life verse is a verse which touches you at your very core and speaks to you above all other scripture verses.

I selected verse 50 to focus on today because it relates to my life verse which is Acts 17:28 “for in Him (Adonai) we live and move and have our being.” In Him, I find life. He is the life giver. He is the source of my strength.

Psalms 119 is logistically in standard Bibles, the middle of the Bible. Psalms 119 is also the longest chapter in the Bible. The psalmist has a lot to say, and he uses the Hebrew alphabet to define his relationship with Adonai. Have you ever used the English alphabet to describe Adonai from A to Z? This is what he is doing in Psalms 119.

Notice the number of times he says, “I will,” praise You (vs. 7), observe Your statutes (vs. 8), rejoice in Your testimonies (vs. 14), meditate on Your precepts (vs. 15), delight in Your decrees (vs. 16), and never forget Your Word (vs. 16). He also asks many things of Adonai; Revive me (vs. 25), Teach Me (vs. 26), Help me (vs. 27), Make me (vs. 28), Turn me (vs. 29), and be gracious to me (vs. 29).

The quality of the psalmist’s character is declared in several key verses. His attitude toward Adonia is revealed in vs. 2 and 10 “with my whole heart”, his attitude towards scripture, “treasured Your Word in my heart”, and his request in prayer, “You open wide my heart” toward your law or commandments.

The psalmist is characterizing a personal relationship with Adonai. Not only does He acknowledge God and make requests of Him, but he also declares because of the Word, what he will do in response to the Word.

Action: I will interact with the Word of God by making action statements every day. Today I will treasure Your Word in my heart!

Yield: I am surrendered to God’s Word when I allow it to transform me.

Engage: When I allow the Word of God to transform me, I am engaged with the Holy Spirit’s process.

Relationship: When I abide in Him, He abides in me.

Prayer: Father, I love You and I love your Word. It is life to me. Thank you for living in me. Amen.

Memory Verse: Psalm 119:11
11 I have treasured Your word in my heart,
so I might not sin against You.
