Prayer: Father, when I look to scripture, to Your word, I can put the pieces together. Your story and Your narrative are documented by Baruch, through the mouth of Jeremiah. Help me to understand the prophetic nature of Your word. Amen.
Reading: Jeremiah 47 key: vs. 4-5 “For the day is coming to devastate all the Philistines, to cut off from Tyre and Sidon every remaining ally. For Adonai will destroy the Philistines, the rest of the island of Caphtor. Baldness has come upon Gaza, Ashkelon is ruined. O remnant of their valley, how long will you gash yourself?” TLV
Attention: In recent years we have seen headlines about the Palestinian conflict with Israel in the area or region of Gaza. Gaza was a city of the Philistines who bordered Old Testament Israel on the west toward the Mediterranean Sea.
In today’s prophecy of Adonai’s given to Jeremiah, he is to declare God’s message of destruction of the Philistines. If you would take a look at a map of 1st Century Israel (which is in the back of the TLV Bible), it shows Yeshua’s travels. If you look to the west coast of Israel, you do not see an area designated as the Philistines, because this map confirms the word of the Lord. The Philistines were destroyed at the hands of Pharoah’s armies and no longer exist, as prophesied by Adonai.
Today we hear the name Gaza used for a city which is primary for the region, currently inhabited by people who identify as Palestinians They are claiming that Palestine was formerly a state. Palestine was not formerly a state, it was an area or region as substantiated by the Holman Illustrated Bible Dictionary (ps. 1237). “Geographical designation for the land of the Bible, particularly land west of the Jordan River that God allotted to Israel for an inheritance (Joshua 13-19).”
The contemporary narrative has been altered to establish a legitimacy for the Palestinian people. If you accept the narrative of the Bible, it is difficult to accept the new narrative. Just last week, a congressman submitted paperwork, proposing the establishment of a Palestinian state.
Do we ignore the declarations of God (Adonai) as documented in scripture, and give to others, what He has given to the Hebrew nation? This is the issue which is polarizing the world. Which side will you stand on? Will you stand with the God of the Hebrew nation, Adonai? Or will you stand with the declarations of man.
Action: I choose to stand with the Hebrew nation of Israel and the declarations of Adonai in Joshua 13-19.
Yield: I submit to the authority of God’s word.
Engage: I choose to engage with the Spirit of God in declaring His message.
Relationship: I choose to live in holy, intimate relationship with God.
Prayer: Father, Your word establishes Your Truth, Sovereignty, and Majesty. You are Lord overall. Amen.
Memory Version: Revelation 22:13-14 ““I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End. How fortunate are those who wash their robes, so that they may have the right to the Tree of Life and may enter through the gates into the city.” TLV
